About Us

Peachcroft Pre-school was established in 1983 and is a registered charity run by a Committee of parents.  We are Ofsted registered and a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance.

Our aim is to:

  • Deliver high quality care and education for children aged 2 to 5 years.
  • Offer children and parents a provision which promotes equal opportunity and values diversity.
  • Work with parents to enhance their children’s knowledge and understanding and their future development.
  • Provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
  • Provide an individual learning experience and education for each child.
  • Create and enhance the life and well-being of the wider community.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

From September 2008 all provisions who care for under fives are guided by the standards set out by the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)(Revised September 2012). Ofsted registered providers are required to use the EYFS  to ensure that whatever early years setting parents choose, they can be confident that their child will receive a quality experience that supports their development and learning.

The EYFS has the following four distinct but complimentary themes:

A Unique Child: Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive Relationships: Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.

Enabling Environments: Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.

Learning and Development: Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Operating basis

Please bear in mind we still have to keep the building open and staff employed in this period to provide Early Years Education to those who are not yet LEA funded.  We are a registered Charity and we are not out to make a profit, any profits made from fund-raising are put back into providing resources for the children.  Please speak to the current Pre-school Chairman or Treasurer if you require more information, their phone numbers are on the Parent notice board in the rear entrance foyer.

Ofsted report (2015)

Peachcroft Pre-school was rated ‘Good’

Positive comments from this Ofsted Report:

Children make good progress in their learning and development due to the good teaching provided by staff in this caring and supportive pre-school. Staff regularly observe children as they play. These are used to plan suitably challenging activities based on children's interests.

Children settle quickly due to a well-established key person system. New children have a home visit from their key worker, which allows them to form a positive relationship before they begin. Families speak highly of the support they and their children receive when they begin at the nursery.

The children enjoy a good range of toys and resources aimed at promoting all areas of their learning and development. Children confidently explore the resources, choosing what they want to play with and showing good levels of independence. Children are encouraged to use resources flexibly, supporting their ideas and imaginations.

The manager and her staff team work well together to create a harmonious and welcoming environment. Regular team meetings, one-to-one supervisions and peer mentoring supports staff development. The close-knit team communicate effectively, ensuring they are always familiar with policies and working practices.
